-- welcome to infinitus;
infinitus
[ infinite , unbounded , immense ]
Everyone has characters they've created whose games have died suddenly or not even got off the ground or it died an untimely death and so you're left wanting more, with the need to play this character but you've got no where to play them. Sometimes we have characters who just won't shut up, who won't let you go but then when you do finally give in to them you just can't find the right home or you find you have a little too much on your plate and are unable to keep up and thus you're cut from the game. Real life happens at the worst possible times. Then Perhaps Infinitus is for you. Here there is no update limit, there is no applications, no things you have to do. It is a home, a place you can come when you have the time to roleplay because you have sudden inspiration, because you want to and not because you feel you have to just so you won't get cut even though you have a million important things to do.

Basically Infinitus is a playground in which every character is welcome - whether they are new, old, borrowed from a book, tv or film it doesn't matter. Everyone is welcome here. In that respect every genre of game is welcome also. Whether it is an original supernatural game, something adapted from a book, perhaps a film or TV show.

Infinitius however is not pan-fandom. Not everyone is shoved on an island or whatever it is these days and left to mingle with each other, as amusing as a shocked and surprised Harry Potter who finds out about demons from Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be that is not what Infinitus is about. Each character will live in their own separate worlds, have their own stories to follow. Whether one of your characters is able to join in one or two of the other 'worlds' that is up to you. Here everything is up to you.

The credit for the base idea of Infinitus is from games such as [info]audeamus. All credit for the idea of 'multiple games in one, no activity rules thus bringing fun back to RPing' goes to them.

the guidelines
oo1. Common sense. Have it, use it. Everyone already knows the rules of an RPG game so I'm not going to waste my time repeating them over and over again. It is useless and waste of both my time and yours. The rules always say the same thing anyway. Common sense. Do not god mod, do not use mary sues, good grammar, no one liners unless that’s all you got. Blahblah. Easy enough, right?

oo2. Respect each other. Please, please respect each other. One of the main downfalls of a lot of RPs is people being shit to each other OOCwise. This is for fun people, fun. It isn't meant to be serious business. Someone doesn't play as well as you would like? don't bitch at them just don't play with them or be honest. Help them if they need it. So be nice, play fair.

oo3. If you have any OOC drama I don't particularly want to know. Unless someone in game is harassing you then I don't want to know. I'm not here to hold your hand, this is not an RP game where I need too I would hope. Hopefully everyone is mature enough to handle their own OOC arguments in a mature fashion. Talk it through, don't throw names and try and sort it out amongst yourself without dragging others into it - that is just not fair on them.

oo4. There is NO UPDATE limit. There is no character limit. There is nothing. You can join do one post and that’s it. You will only be removed when you ask. Or if something big happens - a universe is removed, we have to move servers. Etc. You can have as many characters as you want in as many universes as you wish. Go wild.

oo5. Please make sure to give ratings and warnings on posts. Not everyone wants to read NC-17. Also all ratings are allowed from G to NC-17. Just make sure it is noted! Gore, violence, pure smut, fluff, angst, controversial storylines, out there lines, drugs, illegal activities. There are no limits so long as you rate your post. We need to know what the post contains.

oo6. Have fun.

the faq
oo1. so, you've just copied audeamus?
In a way and hopefully they won't mind. The games hosted here will be different from those at Audeamus. Hopefully they will not mind us 'borrowing' their idea.

oo2. so I can only use already made characters?
Nope. New characters are welcome just as much as old ones. Whether you had the chance to play them for only a post or two, whether you have played them for years, your first character, the character you made a year ago but never used, the character you made last week for game which never opened. All are welcome. There is no application form to fill in. There is nothing but the initial sample. We would prefer you to have a profile for your character up in your journal but in the end that is up to you.

oo3. there's no pb hold list? or taken? what is happening with those?
There is not going to be any hold list, any taken list. Nothing. Duplicates don't matter. Three people all with Natalie Portmans face? Fair enough. It doesn't really matter.

oo4. I don't want to be part of the game anymore what do I do?
You tell us over here and we'll remove you from the game. Remember that even if you don't play the character any more we aren't going to make you drop them due to that so in effect you can leave the character up for as long as Infinitus is alive.

oo5. so, there is no update limit at all?
Nope. You can post as often or as little as you like. Activity will not be checked. There will be no re-caps of weeks. There is no time frames. Post as you wish, when you wish. Time can in effect go as slow or as quick as you wish, though please make sure to clearly label things for other peoples benefits.

oo6. do I have to update the journal?
Nope. See a pattern yet? Whether you use the journal depends on you and your universe. Each universe will let you know if and how the journals are used however ultimately it is up to you whether you use it or not.

oo7. what are the communities? where do I post logs/threads?
The two communities are [info]infinitus and [info]gregalis. The main community where you post logs, threads etc. is [info]infinitus. [info]gregalis is the OOC community.

oo8. is there any log format?
Not really. There is the usual who/what/when but that is about it. It would be nice to put the name of your universe in the subject line. So if you're in Square One you could put [SQUARE ONE] in the subject line and possibly as a tag. It would be helpful to have any journal entries marked in the same way. This is just so we can keep the communities straight.

oo9. Do all the characters from all the universes interact with each other?
No, not at all. Consider them separate universes, separate games. We may have three Harry Potter universes but none of them would know of each other. If you want to do a random crack thread though? Go for it!

o10. can I only join one universe?
You can join as many as you like with as many characters. You are not limited to how many characters you can have, nor how many of the small games you may wish to join or even how many characters you have in each game ( unless it is stated and usually this is for a reason! ).

o11. are we limited to the games you've put up?
No. I suggest you make a post in the OOC to see how many people are interested, then if you find quite a few are if you head on over to the game page and fill out the form there I can add it up on the list. After that if you fill the form in for adding a character and then...start playing.

o12. can we only do original roleplays?
Nope. Anything is allowed really. Originals, films, tvs, books. Once again this game has no limit as to what the games are.

o13. so and so game says it only has so many places in it? or that I need to submit a profile? I thought you said we could have as many characters as we wanted and that there would be no profiles needed!
Sometimes due to the nature of the game there might need to be a cap on how many characters join. Winging It is one. We can't have a hundred people all on one ship really can we? And the point of that game is that they are stranded and somewhat alone in the middle of no where.

o14. if I submit a new game to be added to the list do I mod it or you?
Adding characters, updating the adder etc. is the job of the admin however if the storyline requires to be moved along in so much as 'mod posts' in usual communities than that is your job. I do not have anything to do with the games in this in so much as putting them up and possibly participating them if I didn't create them.

o16. so I'm modding a game is it possible to make a community for it separate to infinitus?
Definitely! Sometimes certain universes may be a little more active than others or you may just want to keep it separate. You can make a new community for them however it is left to whomever is moderating the game. The mods of Infinitus will not do it for you.

o16. is there somewhere I can request people to take up characters? Like a wanted post? What about putting up characters for adoption?
You can fill in and post a form for both wanted and adoptable characters in each info post for the games. It is kept as a comment and you have to delete them as the spot is filled yourself.
